According to a primary account, the pirates were aboard two sloops, one with 120 men and twelve cannon, and the other with thirty men and eight cannon. What is certain is that he crossed the atlantic at some point and went to sea, probably fighting as a privateer in queen anne’s war against the french between 1702 and 1713 Pirate ships roamed the atlantic ocean, preying upon busy commercial ports in the west indies and along the coast of north america
One of the most notorious of the pirates, edward teach, better known as blackbeard, was a frequent visitor to north carolina and it was here, in november 1718, that he was captured and killed.
He and his men sailed the caribbean and the atlantic coast of north america, torturing merchant ship crewmen and passengers, stealing cargo, and gaining a reputation as one of the most notorious pirates in history In battle, blackbeard was a savage opponent with a reputation for inhuman strength. Blackbeard, the infamous pirate edward teach, primarily sailed in the caribbean sea and the waters off the eastern coast of north america. He was born into a wealthy english family on the island of barbados, and despite his lack of sailing experience, he decided to buy a sailing vessel, hire a crew, and dedicate himself to piracy with his ship called revenge.
Blackbeard earned a reputation as a ruthless pirate He terrorized sailors and ambushed passenger and cargo ships in the dim light of the dawn, when he had sufficient cover to approach unsuspecting vessels.
