I was very surprised to find many interviews and articles talking about the actress (denise crosby) choosing to leave for fear of typecasting or whatever Like were there high expectations for. I distinctly remember her being told her character was being killed off due to her behaviour not being family friendly and it being quite a big deal in the press
Quite a scandal at the time. Did her character have some sort of following when the show first aired Would denise crosby have stayed if they had given her a chair
This is a very specific question i know
From watching the documentaries and being a huge star trek nerd/fan forever and listening to convention videos and thinking about it all, i'm wondering if a chair would honestly have made the difference I'm thinking it probably would have. Til the actress who played tasha yar on star trek tng, denise crosby, is the granddaughter of singer and movie star, bing crosby. The character denise crosby played was killed by what can be described as a pool of oily sludge
And here its put in the context of dnd game where she tried to walk around but rolled a 1 which results in a critical failure. Jonathan frakes, denise crosby, levar burton, marina sirtis and brent spiner, having fun on set in the early days of tng #startrek Til you can see denise crosby (tasha yar) waving goodbye in the background of her last filmed scene. I was listening to bing crosby's christmas songs this morning and just connected the dots

It did open up doors for worf, though He became head of security and then went on to ds9 Michael dorn owes a lot to denise crosby for leaving the show. It was quite unsatisfying that tasha yar had to be killed so that denise crosby would walk out
The show would've been better if tasha had survived she would've instead be reassigned to another starship after season 1 and only returned in a few guest appearances like wesley. Considering she was only around for one season and a couple of guest appearances, it is surprising how well she seems to be remembered, especially compared to other one season characters like pulaski or ezri dax Was it something to do with denise crosby's famous family background
