A subreddit for black and mixed girls with big lips (read rules before posting) High yellow was for a black person, with two black parents who also happened to be lighter. Just means someone who identifies as black and has a lighter skin color
These reasons no longer apply today, but identity or group membership is more than biological ancestry When i was growing up lightskin specifically referred to a black person, with two black parents, who happened to be light I’m biracial and don’t feel uncomfortable if someone wants to identify.
The lightskin jokes came in as a response and defense mechanism from dark skin jokes
The jokes we get aren't a comparison to the violence and blatant discrimination dark skin people get. This community is dedicated to the appreciation of all black & brown trans women. What i grew up with was Lightskin = a black (not mixed) person with two black parents who happens to have lighter skin
Tayshaun prince of the detroit pistons You can see in the picture of his family his mom (white shirt) is unambiguously black High yella = same as above, but more yellow undertones in skin color Soo i got downvoted for this last time, but here goes anyway
I couldn't give you a number however ime certain minority (parsis, muslims etc) communities have a greater number of light skinned and/or light eyed individuals compared to the average within that ethnic group
Of course i'm not talking about bollywood, that's a different matter altogether. Racially half black half white for example someone is mixed' and their mom is black and dad is white, they are born mixed, if they get their moms skin theyre just mixed, if they get lighter skin like their dad theyre mixed and lightskin. Lightskin black people the younger generation doesn’t realize they have white ancestry it’s generations of biracial marrying other biracial but going by the one drop rule. I’m 18, from texas but with parents from the deep south and lightskin always meant a black or biracial person with a lighter skin tone.
